Five Draft Spots and 23 Submissions: PGF’s Las Vegas Qualifier Delivers

Five champions entered the PGF Season 10 Draft pool after a Las Vegas qualifier that produced 23 submissions in 31 contested matches.

Five more athletes moved into the Professional Grappling Federation’s Season 10 Draft pool on Saturday, but the clearest story from Las Vegas was how they got there.

Alexis Torres Meza and Kris Olivo each swept their divisions with three submissions. Across the five brackets at Legends of Gold LV, 36 athletes produced 23 submissions in 31 contested matches. That is a 74.2 percent finish rate, and it gave the Las Vegas Kings qualifier the kind of pace that makes an open-entry path into a professional league feel immediate.

Torres Meza wins the leglock race

The 145-pound bracket became a collision between two perfect finishing runs.

Torres Meza opened his day with an inside heel hook over Ryan Fedigan, followed with an ankle lock against Isaiah Mejia, and finished Kaimoni Operana with another ankle lock in the championship match. His three submissions required only 5:49 of total match time.

Operana had been just as decisive on the other side of the bracket. He reached the final with three armbars, including a 46-second flying armbar over Ryan Elgarico. Nine of the division’s 10 contested matches ended by submission, but Torres Meza’s lower-body attacks settled the last one.

Olivo finishes every opponent at 170

Kris Olivo’s route through the 170-pound division showed more variety.

He submitted returning PGF veteran Jared Fekete with a flying triangle choke, caught JJ Bowers with an ankle lock, and then finished Garrett Kilpatrick with a heel hook at 5:25 of the final. The complete run totaled 9:01, and every match in the seven-bout bracket ended with a submission.

Olivo’s ability to move from a front-facing attack to two different leg finishes made his performance more than a collection of quick results. It showed a competitor solving three different matchups without allowing a decision to settle any of them.

Three more champions join the pool

Brady Branscum claimed the 155-pound title with two six-minute decisions, including an all-10th Planet Las Vegas final against teammate Adam Franck.

At 185 pounds, London Horn waited until the final seconds to find his finish. After opening with a decision over Kevin Crane, Horn submitted Stephen Martinez with an ankle lock at 5:52 of the championship match. The finish came with eight seconds left in regulation.

Shane Rogers completed the five-champion slate at 205 pounds. He submitted Ethan Wagner with a rear-naked choke, then defeated Fedor Nikolov by decision in the final.

Torres Meza, Branscum, Olivo, Horn, and Rogers now enter the Season 10 Draft pool. Winning a qualifier does not guarantee a place on a franchise roster. It guarantees the chance to be selected when the league’s eight teams complete their draft process.

A qualifier should feel consequential

That distinction is what gives these events their tension.

The athletes are not competing for a medal that ends the story. They are competing for the next conversation, the one in which coaches and franchise owners decide who fits their team.

Saturday’s results also expanded the range of profiles available in that pool. Torres Meza and Olivo arrived through clean submission sweeps. Horn showed he could create a finish when the clock was nearly gone. Branscum and Rogers demonstrated that they could manage full regulation matches when a submission did not arrive.

The next scheduled PGF qualifier takes place November 8 in Westminster, Colorado. The Season 10 Draft is set for January 17, 2027, with opening day scheduled for March 2.
